When it comes to meeting challenges, our response is simple: We serve. Preventing blindness and saving sight for millions of people around the world has been the goal for Lions Clubs around the world for nearly 100 years.

In 1925, Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness." And we accepted. Today, sight programs remain one of our defining causes.

Our members have worked on projects designed to prevent blindness, restore eyesight and improve eye health and eye care for hundreds of millions of people worldwide. Lions Club volunteers to take part locally in sight projects that have:

- Saved the sight of more than 15 million children by providing eye screenings, glasses and other treatments through Sight for Kids.

- Established or strengthened pediatric eye care centers that have helped more than 120 million children.

- Prevented serious vision loss for more than 30 million people worldwide.

- Improved eye care for 100 million people by training more than 650,000 eye care professionals and building 315 eye hospitals.

-Provided nearly 8 million cataract surgeries.

The Henniker Lions proudly takes part in the Operation Kid Sight Screening Program, provide support to The Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation through the New Hampshire Lions Dog Sight Project which provides guide dogs to those who are sight impaired. We also support our Seniors in our community through donations to White Birch Community Center for educational lectures on Age Related macular Degeneration, Low Vision, eye glass assistance and have donated electronic book readers with enhanced font sized capabilities so our Seniors can continue on reading and learning.

If you are in need of assistance for eye glasses or cataract surgery or you just want to take part in one of our screenings please contact Rick Willgoose on our contact page.
